A 21-year-old climate activist from Bengaluru has been arrested for supposedly being involved in sharing the ‘toolkit’ which was about the protests of farmers on social media, revealed the police officials on Sunday.
The 21-year-old, Disha Ravi, was arrested from a Bemgaluru by a Cyber Cell Team from the Delhi Police on Saturday, a senior official said.
Earlier, the Delhi Police had appealed to Google and social media giants to give the details about the email ids, URLs and several specific social media accounts which are connected to the creators of the ‘toolkit’ posted by teen climate activist from Sweden, Greta Thunberg and several others on Twitter which is connected to the farmer protests.
An FIR against the “pro-Khalistan” creators of the “toolkit” for waging a “social, cultural and economic war against the Government of India” was lodged by the Cyber Cell.
The case was filed against unnamed persons given the charges of criminal conspiracy, sedition and several other sections of the Indian Penal Code, revealed the police.
While briefing a press conference, a senior Delhi Police official spoke that the primary investigation in connection with the document with a pro-Khalistani group termed as “Poetic Justice Foundation”.
As per the details given by the police, the ‘toolkit’ has a specific section which reads, “digital strike-through hashtags on or before January 26, tweet storms on January 23 onwards, physical action on January 26 and watch-out or join farmers march into Delhi and back to borders.”
The toolkit was released with the objective of spreading dissatisfaction and ill-will against the Government of India and inching it towards disharmony amid other social, religious and cultural groups, he further added.
