BCCI takes the call of suspending IPL 2021

The 2021 Indian Premier League has been suspended indefinitely as several players and staffs from different teams who have been identified to be tested Covid-19 positive. According to the news agency PTI, the development regarding the same has been confirmed by IPL chairman Brijesh Patel.
Patel told to PTI, “The tournament has been suspended indefinitely. We will try to conduct the event in the next available window but this month is unlikely.”
This has been declared after the match on Monday between KKR and RCB has been postponed with two players from the KKR team have been tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday. On Tuesday morning, CSK vs RR was scheduled which got postponed for Wednesday was also postponed further as two staff members from the CSK has tested Covid-19 positive.
The decision to suspend IPL 2021 tournament was taken by BCCI as Wriddhiman Saha in Sunrisers Hyderabad camp has been found to be Covid-19 positive which meant there was a hindrance between SRH and the defending team MI.
In the present scenario, the bio-bubble of several franchises has been compromised and deliberating the situation, the league has been suspended.
BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla revealed to news agency PTI, “…we will take stock if we can find a suitable window later during the year. It could be September but these are all speculations. As of now we are not conducting it any further.”
The tournament commenced on April 9 and was functioning smoothly for the month till the members from KKR tested Covid-19 positive.
There was a rising concern in Delhi with the few grandsmen testing positive at the Arun Jaitley Stadium though asserted by DDCA chief Rohan Jaitley that no one on duty was affected.
Alongside, three international players from Australia had pulled out from IPL 2021 mentioning Covid-19 surge in the cases which has severely lashed down the health infrastructure of the country.
