E-commerce marketplace Flipkart and NITI Aayog have collaborated together to launch the revamped Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) inching towards making better the community experience for the women entrepreneurs in India. The platform is an attempt to bring together women across India to help them realize their aspirations of entrepreneurship.
The current version and collaboration will have an extra feature of providing mentorship to the women mentees with particular knowledge revolving around a problematic issue by the help of a committed online system based under FICCI-FLO’s Empowering the greater 50 per cent mission.
The idea was initially processed by NITI-Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant who had declared amid the 8th Global Entrepreneurship Summit held in Hyderabad in 2017 about curating a Women Entrepreneurship platform. The theme of the summit was ‘Women First, Prosperity for All.”
Kant said, “It is my hope that WEP will become a digital place for the entrepreneurs to not only seek the information and support, but also help each other out… Serving as a forum for the people’s voices to be heard, helping inform policies and programmes to better suit the needs and requirements of the people.”
The WEP platform’s “Community” is curated with the objective to provide assistance to the women entrepreneurs in terms of any doubts pertaining to their minds or any required clarifications regarding the multiple aspects of setting up new businesses which includes aspects like registering businesses, GST, funding, effects of the pandemic and for the women who have set up their businesses and want to progress and expand further.
“The WEP plays a critical role in uplifting and empowering women-led businesses in their growth ambition and we are privileged to partner with NITI Aayog in enabling their journey to success.” said Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO of the Flipkart Group iterating on that MSMEs and start-ups have facilitated the industry to have enhanced understanding of their challenges and needs.
