Union Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan introduced a website like virtual portal which will cater to providing information regarding CSIR declared repurposed drugs and details about their on-going clinical trials.
Right from the starting of the Covid-19 induced pandemic, the experts from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) have been researching on multiple combinations of antivirals with host directed therapies for the treatment of Covid-19 infections.
The online portal, named CuRED, will also be having the information about the on-going clinical trials of diagnostics and devices which consists of the involvement of a scientific body.
As per the details from the official release, the information and data regarding safety and efficacy of the five clinical trials which includes Withania somnifera, Tinospora cordifolia in combination with Piper longum, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Adhatoda vasica individually and in combination with Tinospora cordifolia and AYUSH-64 formulation.
The scientific body revealed the data about the phase-two trials of the drug Sepsivac(Mw) which has successfully worked for severe Covid-19 patients and the details about the phase 3 trial is on the way. The trials are in partnership with pharmaceutical company Cadila.
Harsh Vardhan appreciated the attempts and work of CSIR for taking the lead in terms of research against battling Covid-19, which will produce data regarding the regulatory approval and further launching the drugs.
