More than 200 million vaccine doses of Covid-19 to build the immunity have been administered as of 107 countries and territories. Around 45 per cent of Covid-19 shots have the beneficiaries particularly to the wealthy group of Seven (G7) countries, which is estimated to be a mere fraction of 10 per cent of the global population, as per the news agency AFP. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recurrently asked for equitable access and distribution of the vaccines, and on Friday, G7 members took a pledge to share some vaccines with the low and middle income countries.
For the United States, around 60 million doses have been administered, which is the highest globally. As per the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), over 78 million shots are delivered, and a minimum of 42 million people have received single or two doses.
China ranks second to US for total doses administered with a count of over 40 million. The European Union with 27 member bloc has administered over 25 million Covid-19 vaccine shots with the contract with AstraZencea.
The United Kingdom has administered over 17 million doses of Covid-19, extending to 26 per cent of their population. India has administered over 10 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine to its healthcare workers and frontline workers revealed the Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, and is the second fastest country in the vaccination race.
The sixth position in the world is backed by Israel, however Israel has the highest rate of administering vaccine per hundred people in the world with a count of 78.8 doses per 100 people Brazil, the seventh country has administered over 6.6 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
