Odisha Forest Dept creates awareness over fires in Malkangiri

With the rising concerns of forest fire registered from different aspects of Odisha, the Malkangiri forest division has taken an exclusive step to further increase awareness among the masses for the importance of forest preservation by organizing public meetings.

Hundreds of people have participated in the awareness programme which comprises of street plays, traditional songs and dances. The Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Malkangiri recorded a song, which is inclined towards preservation of the forest.

DFO Pradeep Mirase revealed on Tuesday, “Apart from public meetings and street plays, we have composed a song with Koraputia music. Our forester has written that song and I have sung it.”

The DFO added, “This year we witnessed comparatively fewer incidents. All ranges have one squad each. We get info on fire incidents through an app.”

The Odisha Government on Sunday stated that the forest fire situation incident in the state is “totally contained and controlled.”

According to a government release, “The forest fire situation across Odisha which includes Similipal National Park as on Sunday is totally contained and controlled.”

Though, deliberating on the major fire season which is about to come and fire activity enhances with the increase in temperature post the onset of the summer season, the state government has directed the field officials for being on full alert to further prevent any proliferation of fire in their areas.
