A supply deal of 120 million vaccine doses was signed between the Japanese Government and Pfizer, for the Covid-19 vaccine jointly developed by Pfizer and Germany’s BioNTech.

In an official statement, Pfizer stated that it had filed for an approval application to the Health Ministry of Japan, and also gave the comprehensive data and information for validation regarding the tests performed on the vaccine until now.

In a news conference, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan, Katsunobu Kato stated the priority would be the vaccine’s effectiveness and safety parameters, much before Pfizer’s announcement regarding the application.

Kato further said that Japan is expecting to vaccinate all the residents of the country by first half of 2021 and also that the government will make all the necessary provisions and proper arrangements for the vaccination drive.
