PM Modi, Amit Shah and other ministers pay floral tributes to 2001 attack victims

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh have paid tributes to the people who lost their lives in the Parliament attack of 2001 on Sunday.

On the occasion, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad were also present and paid tributes.

Amit Shah tweeted, “Paid floral tributes to the brave martyrs who laid down their lives while protecting our Parliament in the 2001 terrorist attack. I bow to their exemplary courage and sacrifice.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla paid tributes to the victims, earlier today.

Om Birla tweeted in Hindi, “My humble tribute to personnel from police and Parliament who lost their lives on this day in 2001. Their loyalty and valour will continue to inspire us and further strengthen our resolve to fight against terrorism.”

PM Modi wrote on Twitter, “We will never forget the cowardly attack on our Parliament on this day in 2001. We recall the valour and sacrifice of those who lost their lives protecting our Parliament. India will always be thankful to them.”

On December 13, 2001, five terrorists with huge arms and weapons representing Lashkar e Taiba and Jaish e Mohammed barged into the Parliament complex in New Delhi and attacked with fire. As many as 14 people, which includes security forces and one civilian lost their lives in the attack.
