Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a visit to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Thursday for inauguration and laying foundation stone of various development projects.
Pm Modi will lay a foundation stone for the project of laning of NH45-A-56 kms Sattanathapuram – Nagapattinam package of Villupuram to Nagapattinam project extending Karaiakal district in Puducherry scheduled for 11:30 am. The capital cost estimated for the project would be Rs 2,426 crores.
Modi will also inaugurate the Medical College Building at Karaikal New Campus – Phase 1, Karaikal District (JIPMER). The estimated cost for the project is anticipated to be Rs 491 crores.
PM Modi will further inaugurate the development of Minor Port at Puducherry under Sagarmala Scheme along with the Blood Centre for the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry.
At around 4 pm, Modi will dedicate the Neyveli New Thermal Power Project for the nation in Tamil Nadu.
An official release read, “It is a lignite-based power plant designed for power generation capacity of 1000 MW and has two units of 500 MW capacity each. Built at a cost of about Rs 8000 crore, the pit head power plant will utilize lignite as a fuel from the existing mines of Neyveli, which have sufficient lignite reserves for meeting the lifetime requirement of the project. The Plant has been designed for 100 per cent Ash utilization. The power generated would benefit Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Puducherry, with Tamil Nadu having a major share of around 65 per cent.”
Modi will also be dedicating 709 MW Solar Power Project of NLCIL extending to 2670 acres for the districts of Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Ramanathapuram and Virudhnagar at an estimated budget of more than Rs 3,000 crore. He will lay the foundation stone of extension, renovation and modernization of Lower Bhavnani Project System under NABARD Infrastructure Development Assistance. PM Modi will further lay the foundation stone of design, supply, installation and commissioning of a 5MW grid- connected ground based solar power plant at V.O. Chidambaranar Port.
Narendra Modi will also inaugurate the tenements based on the Pradhan Mantri Awaz Yojana (Urban) Scheme.
