Pranab Mukherjee, former President of India, passes away at 84

Former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee took his last breath today in Delhi at the army hospital. Earlier today, it was reported from the army hospital about decline in his health by entering coma. His son Abhijeet Mukherjee confirmed the news on Twitter, “With a Heavy Heart, this is to inform you that my father Shri PranabMukherjee has passed away inspite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR hospital & prayers, duas & prarthanas from people throughout India! I thank all of you.”

Pranab Mukherjee was admitted to the Army Hospital on August 10 and also had a surgery on that day for removing a brain clot. He had also tested positive for Coronavirus the same day and requested the people who came in contact with him to take a necessary precautions. His condition worsened with developed lung infection and renal dysfunction.

He served the country from 2012 to 2017 and received Bharat Ratna – the highest civilian award during August 2019.
