3 IITs make it to top 50 in QS rankings for Asian Institutes

In the latest QS Rankings released for Asian universities, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay has made it to the top rank followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Chennai. This is for the second consecutive year the IITs have maintained their position in the top 50 among the Asian institutions.

While IIT Bombay has got the 37th rank, following which IIT Delhi ranked 47th and IIT Madras stands at 50th position. Various other Indian institutions that are a part of the ranking are Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru, which has ranked at 56th and alongside IIT Kharagpur was placed at the 58.

In the top 100 rankings among the Asian institutions, The University of Delhi ranks 71, IIT Kanpur at 72 and Jawaharlal Nehru University. In the above hundred ranking, Indian institutions included in the QS list are IIT Roorkee at 103, IIT Guwahati at 117, University of Hyderabad at 142 and Jadavpur University at 147, University of Calcutta at 154 and Institute of Chemical and Technology, Mumbai at 155 ranking.

The ranking agency revealed the results of the ranking were based on the institute’s performance index prior to onset of Covid-19. The rankings were based on 11 aspects which include academic reputation, employer reputation, international research work, citations adhering to individual papers, faculty and student ratio, and papers per faculty.
