As Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan made an official statement on Thursday saying that Covid-19 vaccine will be available for Indians by the beginning of 2021, it is a sigh of relief for millions of curious Indians.
Presently, India is pacing up with the vaccine discovery just like other countries with three vaccine candidates in different phases of clinical trials. The two indegenous vaccines by Bharat Bioech and Zydus Cadila are currently in-process and completed the phase-1 trials.
Also, the Serum Institute of India has been granted approval by the DGCI to proceed with the trials of Covid-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University. In a recent update regarding the Russia’s vaccine Sputnik V, there is going to be a joint collaboration between the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd for clinical trials and distribution of vaccines in India.
Meanwhile, India’s single day spike of Coronavirus cases has reached to 97,894 infections tallying the total cases to over 51 lakh.
