Pakistan attacks India with heavy firing along LOC in Poonch

Pakistan attacked India on Friday morning with heavy firing on the Indian soldiers and the adjacent villages along the Line of Control (LoC) which is based in Mankote sector of Poonch district, provoking India to fight back in equal measure.

Defence spokesperson, Lt Colonel Devender Anand revealed the details, “At about 0515 hours today, Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling mortars along LoC in Mankote sector in district Poonch.”

Indian army retaliated beffitingly, Lt Col Devender Anand added.

This is for the eighteenth time in the month that Pakistan has violated the ceasefire agreement. No casualties were reported by the Indian troops. On Thursday, Pakistani shelling in the Sunderbani sector in Rajouri district injured a Junior Commissioned Officer. Officials further revealed, an Army jawan died and another was injured when the Pakistani Army attacked the LoC in the Krishnagati area of Poonch district on October 1 violating the ceasefire. On September 5, an Army personnel died with one officer and another personnel being severely injured with the heavy fire by the Pakistani troops at the Sunderban sector, added officials.
