Sonia Gandhi calls for a meeting with Congress leaders, looks to end crisis

A meeting was called by Congress party interim President, Sonia Gandhi at 10 Janpath on Saturday, which was attended by Congress leaders Ashok Gehlot and Ghulam Nabi Azad and various other dissenters from the group of 23, apart from the senior leaders. The agenda of the meeting held was to end the ongoing crisis pertaining to the party and further discussion about strengthening the organization against the electoral setbacks.

Various other Congress leaders who were present on the meeting are Anand Sharma, BS Hooda, Ambika Soni, and P Chidambaram along with dissent letter writers including Vivek Tanha, Shashi Tharoor, and Manish Tiwari.

Sonia Gandhi organized the meeting to formulate the core strategies based on the current political scenario with the farmers protests and agitation against the farm laws.

A Congress functionary said, “She wants to bring all the warring leaders together and end the current impasse in the party. She wants all the leaders to work in close coordination with Rahul Gandhi in strengthening the party.” The meeting is scheduled for 10 days period to come out with the required resolutions.

In a press briefing, Sonia Gandhi will be having a meeting with party leaders for the upcoming 10 days, was said by Congress General Secretary. Sonia Gandhi is also going to discuss about the scrapping of the winter session of Parliament as induced by the Central Government with senior leaders who are included in the party’s Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs.
